i've been meaning to draw up something in a photographic style like this for a while. grass is a pain in the ass to draw.
i picture this as being taken in June/July 1914, before Britain declared war on Germany. they'd be close at this point but not brave enough to give the camera a good ol' snog.

Awww...cute! I looooove the whole antique photo look. I end up doing it to drawings that aren't even supposed to be photos, just because the effect is so neat. Photos can say a lot about a character too...like here, where you have that shy, early relationship feel going on.

So did you pencil this and scan? The lawn looks nice btw. Lets hear it for tedious backgrounds (tedious to draw, that is, not to look at) :D

I think snog's a great word. You're from the UK, I assume? We don't have a decent equivalent here in the states...

it was fun to do and i'm pleased with how it turned out :D i've seen a few drawings made to look like photographs (including yours!) around and i really liked how it looked so i thought i'd give it a try.
yeahh i scanned it in then coloured it in photoshop...and ugh the grass made me want to cry, i hadn't really drawn grass or bushes before so i was kinda winging that haha.
and yeah, i'm from England :) i dunno snog just doesn't seem the nicest word to describe a kiss but i guess its kinna funny

I love this! It's very cute- I like the fact they're smiling in an age when you had to be as serious as stone in photographs! Also it's a sad prelude to the tragedies they've yet to face in the war.
