we were given a project a couple of weeks back on gender equality/feminism so here's a timelineish sort of thing depicting the rapid changes that occurred in the early 20th century. it begins with a early 1900s lady who was basically an object and belonged to her husband/father...didn't do much except look pretty/pay calls/drink tea and have babies. moving onto a domestic servant, to show that women were beginning to work more but were still unfairly treated, maids would be paid less than footmen because the footmen added 'class' to a household whilst a maid was just there to do duties for ridiculous hours in a day. of course the suffragettes were going to appear in this and i had to sneak Gwen in too eheh. but the man wasn't supposed to look like Arthur but he kinda did anyway, oops. Ending with a 1920s flapper...when women began to smoke, drink, wear make up and in some cases vote/not worry about marriage before sex.

this has taken a ridiculous amount of time and now i'm very tired.

Sorry I'm like way behind the power curve here, but I did want to say that I think this is lovely! Particularly love the flapper!!

Also I'm guilty of sneaking my characters into art assignments too....

heheh thank you! it was fun to draw. and i figured if i was drawing suffragettes i'd have to put gwen in there :P
how's 100 cigarettes going by the way? i noticed part of the script up on nanowrimo and it sounded really good so far :D

Aw thank you! I finished the script...It's...long...

Right now I'm editing it and doing a lot of research to fill in little detail gaps...I've come to the conclusion that this endeavor is going to take me (literally) years. Which is ok. I'm in for the long haul.

How's your story coming along?

i'm sure the end product will definitely be worth it though! i'm looking forward to seeing more of it. and i'm thinking that mine will be taking a while but that's because i think i have a lot to improve on with my drawing first.

it's going okay i guess, i really struggle with plots and the like so i'm a bit stuck :(

I struggle with plots too!! I think it was really really helpful for me to sit down and just force myself to write it out. It really helped fill in a lot of holes, and the characters surprised me occasionally by basically doing whatever the heck they wanted X)

I hear you about the drawing. I get pretty overwhelmed (all the time)when I think about backgrounds and perspective and people in every possible pose...so I have to focus. One drawing at a time. Actually I just got this figure drawing book (by Michael Hampton I think) and it's really helping me. I'm just working through it a little bit at a time. I figure every little improvement I can make will help - no sense trying to be perfect.

Anyways, keep the drawings coming, if you time XD Is it holiday yet for you?

i've tried to sit down and write myself a script but i end up getting stuck on dialogue..i have a few key points to the plot but there's holes that i need to fill in, and i need to flesh out the key points in the firt place. xP
i've asked my lecturers about doing some life drawing so hopefully that'll be sorted in the new year...an anatomy book might be a good investment though! but another thing i'm worrying about is historical accuracy..i could really do with my own personal historian haha

and yeah i broke up for the christmas holidays last thursday, but i have so much work due for the beginning of january that i'm not going to get much of a break. bah. but i am procrastinating with some drawings that i'll put up soon heheh. what about you?

Yes...historical accuracy. Does your uni provide you access to any online academic journals (such as through JSTOR?)? I've found it to be really helpful for obscure articles and things. I could search for 'German university system in 1933', for example, and come up with articles people have written on that very subject. Way more reliable than searching the web, that's for sure.

But yeah I just broke for holiday last Friday. However since I am forcing myself to paint everyone gifts this year rather than buy them, I'm too busy to get anything else done :-/ That's the way it goes I guess.

Looking forward to your latest drawings XD

ooh, i haven't looked into it but my uni has just opened a multi million pound library so there should be something there, hopefully. i'll try that! especially because i do struggle finding out specific information using the internet.

yeah..i have three projects to get done in three weeks, so it's working out as a week per project. but i'll have most of january free so i can make up for my lack of drawing for myself then heheh. i'm looking forward to seeing more of yours too!
